I-85 UPDATE: Two of three lanes in Davidson now open
Two of three lanes are now open on I-85 just north of N.C. 109 near Thomasville. The right lane will remain closed until crews move the tanker truck from the roadway.
According to Times' partner, WXII, all lanes of I-85 north were closed for three hours after a car and a tanker truck collided about 2 a.m. today (May 15) at mile marker 104. Two people were taken to hospitals.
The driver of the car was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and the driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries at Thomasville Medical Center and released.
All but one lane had reopened until all the lanes were closed around 10:30 a.m. in order to move 8,100 gallons of ethanol onto another tanker. Two lanes were reopened about 1:30 p.m.
Traffic backups extended several miles to Highway 64 at mile marker 96.
