Thomasville Police Department released the name of the man responsible for Friday night’s two-hour long standoff involving an infant child.

Jason Brown, 27, of 2019 Apt. C on Ball Park Road, will be facing domestic abuse charges, Maj. James Mills said, following Friday’s standoff with police that forced authorities to evacuate neighbors amidst reports the suspect possessed an assault rifle. Mills said Brown lost his job and became upset, causing him to barricade himself inside his apartment.

TPD’s SWAT team responded to the scene, setting up a perimeter around the complex and evacuating neighbors. Lt. David Tilley, TPD’s hostage negotiator, managed to make contact with Brown via telephone and convinced the suspect to turn himself in without incident.
