Brockett, Wilson earn CCC player of year honors
Thomasville tailback Gabe Brockett has been tabbed the Central Carolina Conference offensive player of the year after rushing for more than 3,000 yards for the Bulldogs. On the other side of the ball, teammate Dezmond Wilson was named defensive player of the year after a phenomenal senior season from his linebacker position.
Others from Thomasville making the all-conference team were Frank Ingram, Lawrence Phillips, Rob Styers, Tequan Williams, Zack Anderson, Akeem Davis, Greg Johnson, Gabe Pesqueria and Adam Reeves.
Making all-CCC from East Davidson were Taylor Booze, Brett Fuller, Michael Ramos, Nathan Campbell and Josh Craven.
In volleyball, Central Davidson’s McKenzie Burkhart was named player of the year. Making the team from Thomasville were Chantel Blackwell and Joslyn Spires, while East was represented by Michaela Everhart and Jennifer Welborn.
In soccer, Central’s Charlie Killebrew was the top player. Thomasville’s lone representative was Irving Sifuentes, while the Golden Eagles placed Javier Lopez, Adam Davis and Salvador Pecina on the all-CCC team.
In cross country, Central’s Derek Chavis was men’s runner of the year and West Davidson’s Callie Wynn was women’s runner of the year. Representing Thomasville on the team was Enrique Solis. East runners named were Tyler Oldaker and Ariel Grimsley.
In tennis, East Davidson’s Ashley Taylor made the team.
