Ledford used a nine-run second inning to blow by North Forsyth 14-3 in five innings Monday in the first round of the MPC tournament in Wallburg.
Duke Boger grabbed the win and collected two hits with an RBI. Bubba White was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Chaz Shields added two hits.
The Panthers will play top-seeded Northeast Guilford in the semifinals today.
East closes out perfect CCC campaign
East Davidson swept all of its conference foes this season, ending up 10-0 after beating Salisbury at home on Friday, 9-4.
Ryan McIntire tossed five innings of three-hit ball to move his record to 4-0. East had 15 hits for the night with Nick Williams leading the way at 4-for-4. Nathan Williams went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Braxton Shetley 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Josh Craven had two RBIs, McIntire two hits and an RBI, and Trevor Jones added two hits. Paker McKeithan and Brian Bauk each homered for the Hornets.
East is 18-3 overall and has the No. 1 seed for the CCC tournament.
East JV perfect
Toby Craven, Cody Beck and Avery Deweese combined on a perfect game in East Davidson’s 17-0 win at Salisbury Friday in junior varsity action.
Matthew Fannery went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Kenny Shadrick was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Tyler Smith had two hits and three RBIs, Tyler Watts two hits with three runs scored, Austin Hunt scored three runs, while Craven and Luke Bayse drove in two runs each.
East’s junior varsity finished the year 12-5 and 6-0 in the CCC.
Eagles handle Hornets with ease
Haley Ray, Brooke Walser and Lindsay Jackson combined for the win on the mound as East Davidson thumped host Salisbury 19-4 in Central Carolina play on Friday.
Leading hitters for the Golden Eagles were Natalie Naturile (3-for-5 with four runs scored and one RBI), Morgan Gallimore (3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs), Brooke Walser went (3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored) and Bailey Inman (3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored).
East will next see action in the semifinals of the CCC tournament today.
Post 87 tryouts
The Post 87 Jr. HiToms season is upcoming and the HiToms would like to invite all interested players to a mandatory tryouts/organizational meeting Saturday, May 4 at Trinity High School.

HiToms 5K race
On Saturday, June 22, the HiToms will host the 2nd Annual Home Run 5K & Bike Race. In addition to the running portion of the race, this year's event will incorporate a new component — cycling routes of 30, 45 and 55 miles. The biking loops will take riders through surrounding areas of Thomasville and High Point, and will provide an arduous test for both avid and novice cyclists alike. Detailed routes for the designated distances will be posted in the near future.
The Friday night home game (June 21 vs. Martinsville) will serve as a "Pre-Race Party" night and provides the opportunity for sponsors and participants to receive their due recognition on Finch Field. All participants receive a free ticket to this game as part of their race package.

Davidson County Community College basketball coach Matt Ridge, will hold his annual Matt Ridge Basketball Academy June 24-27 at Brown Middle School.
The goal of the Matt Ridge Basketball Academy is to give campers instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, as well as emphasize team play and sportsmanship. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and ability level. Instruction will be provided by Coach Matt Ridge and members of his coaching staff, players and other area coaches.
The camp is for rising 1st-12th grade students. Cost is $90 per camper which includes instruction, insurance and T-shirt.
The camp will run each day from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

The South Davidson Athletic Booster Golf Tournament will be held May 11 at the Uwharrie Golf Club in Asheboro. Entry fee is $200 per team for the tournament that starts at 10 a.m. There will be prize money for the top three finishing teams, along with $50 for the longest drive and closest to the pin contests.
