BASEBALL
Eagles win conference opener

Nick Williams tossed a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and no walks to spark East Davidson to a 2-0 win over Salisbury on Thursday in Salisbury.
Williams improved to 2-1 on the season and also went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI for the Golden Eagles (4-3, 1-0 Central Carolina 2-A Conference).
Chance Bowden finished 3-for-3 for the Hornets (1-7, 0-1).

GOLF
Panthers win tri-match

Ledford posted a 12-stroke victory in Monday’s three-team match at par-36 Winding Creek Golf Course on Wednesday in Thomasville.
The Panthers carded 155, followed by West Davidson at 167 and East Davidson at 175.
Ledford’s Ryan McClellan was medalist at 35, while teammate Parker Hughes tied for second at 38, Anthony Bradley shared fourth at 40, and John Gavin Rhodes shared sixth at 42. Also for Ledford, Jordan Mayo shot 43 and Trey Ragan 52.
For West, Zach Michael shot 38, Nathan Curry posted 40 and Nicloas Lambeth 42.
For East, Justin Wood led the way at 41.

Bulldogs fall

Thomasville had a tough night on the road losing to Randleman 6-0 Thursday evening. The Bulldogs are 1-4.

SOFTBALL
Lady Eagles wallop Hornets

East Davidson beat Salisbury 20-0 in three innings on Thursday night.
Brooke Walser got the win on the mound with seven strikeouts and only faced 10 batters. East went 21-for-31 at the plate.

SOFTBALL
Ledford whips Asheboro

Megan Hayworth tossed a complete-game seven-hitter with four strikeouts as Ledford whipped Asheboro 14-4 in Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference action on Thursday night.
Destiny DeBerry went 4-for-6 with an inside the park home run, three RBIs and two stolen bases for the Panthers (7-2, 5-0), while Mackenzie Cranford was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Brinley Irvin was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Bayleigh Griffith was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Abbey Crews was 2-for-2 and Megan Hayworth was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Ledford plays in the Clash of the Champions at Alexander Central vs. North Stokes today.

LHS junior varsity wins big
Ledford crushed Asheboro 21-0 in junior varsity action on Thursday.
Hannah Bean went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs scored for the Panthers, while Taylor Mason was 2-for-3 with an RBI, walk, and run scored. Jane Coats got the win, allowing no hits and no walks in three innings of work.
Ledford (4-1 overall, 4-0 MPC) plays Southwestern Randolph on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
