Prep Baseball Playoffs: Panthers pull upset in first round

Ledford's baseball team began the NCHSAA state 3-A playoffs with a bang, taking out one of the No. 1 seeds in Terry Sanford, 5-3 Tuesday.
Down 3-2 in the sixth, the 13-9 Panthers put together the game-winning rally. With the bases loaded, Michael Horrell, Austin Stilley and Chaz Shields delivered consecutive RBI singles to put LHS ahead by two.
Horrell (6-3) closed it out from there, finishing off the first round win.
Stiley wound up 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Shields was also 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
The Panthers will be on the road again in the second round as they travel to Rockingham County for a contest scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
