Winter weather forces games to be rescheduled

Winter weather has sent athletic directors across the county scrambling to find dates to reschedule games.
Davidson County Community College was to play rival Sandhills Wednesday, but significant snow totals made traveling unsafe, resulting in a postponement of the big game. It will now be played Monday evening in Brinkley Gym beginning at 7 p.m. The Storm can clinch a tie for the regular season championship with a win. DCCC beat the Flyers in their first meeting.
Conference tournaments are set to begin this week at the high school level, leaving little wiggle room to getting in postponed games. Due to seeding purposes, all games need to be played and Monday appears to be the best option.
All three games for Thomasville area teams on Friday have been postponed to Monday, which will push back the start dates of the conference tournaments.
Thomasville will now host rival Lexington at 6 p.m. The Yellow Jackets swept the Bulldogs in an earlier meeting. In other Central Carolina Conference action, East Davidson will play host to West Davidson.
Ledford will host two big games on Monday. The Lady Panthers host Southwestern Randolph in a matchup that will determine the Mid-Piedmont Conference champion. Both teams are 10-1 in the league. The LHS boys will clinch a tie with North Forsyth if they can upend the Cougars.
