The Rev. Linwood  M. Carver of Greensboro will be the guest speaker at First Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 5.  Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and Bible study is 7 p.m. each Wednesday.  
First Missionary Baptist Church is located at 103 Church Street in Thomasville.

"Summit Trace" will perform at Southside Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5.  The church is located at 712 Fisher Ferry St.  in Thomasville. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Cedar Lodge Baptist Church, 1305 Cedar Drive, Thomasville will hold homecoming  at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 5. The Trinity Quartet will perform. A covered-dish meal will follow the service.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem will hear the Rev. Michael Dowd, also known as America’s evolutionary evangelist, present a sermon ,“Thank Got for the New Atheists,” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.  At the 9 a.m. forum,  David Dalton and Mary Kerley will lead a discussion of  the issues around fracking in North Carolina. Hopewell United Methodist Church will have a free community dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 10.  The menu includes baked spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, desserts, and drink. The meal is free to the public, however donations will be accepted.
A country breakfast buffet will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18.  The menu includes eggs, grits, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, and choice of beverage. The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12, and free for 5 and under. Proceeds benefit the building fund.

Trindale Baptist Church, 10407 Archdale Road in Trinity, seeks vendors for its annual yard sale to be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Space rental is $10.
Vendors must provide tables, chairs and tents, if desired. The deadline to reserve a space is noon June 6. Call 431-2318 to make a reservation. Fees will be collected day of sale. Proceeds will benefit the building fund.

Unity Wesleyan Church, 5289 Hopewell Church Road in Trinity, will host the Mercy's Well Trio  on Mother's Day, May 12.  The southern gospel group will sing during  10:45 a.m. worship.  For more information visit or call 434-6380.

Mitchell's Grove United Methodist Church, 3511 E. Kivett Drive in High Point,  will host a spring market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today (May 4). Organized by Gifts of Grace Ministries of Archdale,  the market will benefit mission work.
The market will feature arts and crafts. 
Hot dogs, polish sausages and baked goods will be sold. 

Registration is open for summer and fall programs at Mount Zion Wesleyan Church’s Footsteps Preschool and after-school programs. Preschool early registration fee is $35 through May 1. After-school is accepting registrations for summer camp for rising kindergartners through sixth grade in area schools. The Daishin Buddhist Temple, 11267 East US Hwy. 64 in Thomasville, hosts a community meditation  service at 11 a.m. every Sunday. The service is a guided meditation and Dharma talk followed by a vegetarian lunch and interview with Bushi Yamato Damashii, the resident monk. The public is welcome.
