PRAYER BREAKFAST
The Deaconess Ministry of First Missionary Baptist Church will host Women’s Prayer Breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon today (Jan. 19).  The speaker will be Evangelist Janice Hunter of First Missionary Baptist Church.
First Missionary Baptist Church is located at 103 Church St. in Thomasville.

MEDITATION CLASS
Daishin Buddhist Center offers meditation class at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. The classes are conducted by the abbot, resident monks or visiting monks. The Daishin Buddhist Center Temple is located at 11267 East US Hwy. 64 in Thomasville. Call 472.0446

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP
Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 118 Salem St. in Thomasville, will hold a contemporary worship service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan.  20, in the fellowship hall. The service includes live music. A breakfast of pancakes and sausage will be served.  All are welcome.

‘7-UP’ SERVICE
The  Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 106 Smith St, in Thomasville will hold a special service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20. The "7-up" service, a pre-anniversary event, will include seven speakers.

MLK SERMON TOPIC
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem will hear the Rev. Lisa Schwartz speak on “Legacy of a Dreamer: the lasting challenge of MLK” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The 9 a.m. forum will be an open-microphone session of poets reading selections from their writings. The fellowship is at 4055 Robinhood Road. BUFFET
Hopewell United Methodist Church will hold country breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. today (Jan. 19). The menu includes eggs, grits, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, and choice of beverage. The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 12 years and free for ages 5 and under. All proceeds will go to the building fund.

MUSICAL
The Music Ministry of New Light Missionary Baptist Church will host a late night musical at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Guests will include gospel artists, choirs and groups from the Triad area. This event is free. The church is located at 1535 E. 15th St. Winston-Salem. The senior pastor is the Rev. Sam PL Hickerson. BRUNSWICK STEW
Mt. Vernon United Methodist will host a Brunswick stew sale from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Hut, 9429 Archdale Road in Trinity.
Stew may be reserved by calling the church office at  431-7217 or email bridgeatmtvernon@gmail.com. The cost is $8 a quart.
The sale will fund an expansion project at the church.
The church, at the corner of Archdale and Robbins Country roads, offers contemporary worship at 8:45 a.m., Sunday school t 10 a.m. and  traditional worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Roger Weisner serves as minister. Call 431-7217.
