Dr. T.E. Kilgoe, former senior pastor of Calvary Church in High Point, will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service at First Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 3.
Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and Bible study is 7 p.m.  each Wednesday. First Missionary Baptist Church is located at 103 Church St. in Thomasville.

Daishin Buddhist Center offers meditation class at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. The classes are conducted by the abbot, resident monks or visiting monks. The Daishin Buddhist Center Temple is located at 11267 East US Hwy. 64 in Thomasville. Call 472-0446.

Hopewell United Methodist Church will have a free community dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, The menu includes baked spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, homemade desserts and drink. The meal is free but donations will be accepted.
A pancake supper at 6 p.m. followed by the Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m. will be held Feb. 13.
A breakfast buffet will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, The menu includes eggs,grits, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, and choice of beverage. The prices are $8 for adults, $3 for 6 to 12 years, and free
for ages 5 and under.  All proceeds will go to the building fund.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem will hear Seth Carrier speak on “Claiming Control by Letting Go” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. At the 9 a.m. forum, Michael Hughes will speak on “Civil Disobedience: Expression of  Threat or Democracy?” The fellowship is at 4055 Robinhood Road. For more information, see or call 659-0331.

Mt. Vernon United Methodist will host a Brunswick stew sale from 2 to 4 p.m. today (Feb. 2) at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Hut, 9429 Archdale Road in Trinity.
Stew may be reserved by calling the church office at  431-7217 or email The cost is $8 a quart.
The sale will fund an expansion project at the church.
The church, at the corner of Archdale and Robbins Country roads, offers contemporary worship at 8:45 a.m., Sunday school at 10 a.m. and  traditional worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Roger Weisner serves as minister. Call 431-7217.

The Anchormen will perform in concert at Landmark Baptist Church, 2816 Spoon's Chapel Church in Asheboro, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.
