Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 118 Salem St. in Thomasville, will hold a contemporary worship service at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the church fellowship hall. The service includes breakfast and live music. All are welcome.
Southside Baptist Church will host a free community meal at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. The meal includes soup, sandwiches and desserts. A worship service will follow at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 712 Fisher Ferry St.
Piedmont Crossing invites the public to attend an upcoming Lent series at noon Wednesdays through March 27.
The Rev. Dr. Roland Cavanaugh, director of spiritual life at Piedmont Crossing, will lead the seven week series. Cavanaugh will discuss the biblical history relating to the 40-day Lenten season and explain why Christians around the world observe the time of preparation before Easter to pray, fast and give service to the community.

His Laboring Few Harvest Camp seeks sponsors and participants for its annual golf tournament set for Saturday, April 13, at Winding Creek in Thomasville.
Teams will consist of four players and the cost is $50 per player. The hole sponsorship will be $50 for a partial sponsor and $100 for a full sponsor.
Harvest Camp is the drug and alcohol program that also a working farm which provides produce for the camp as well as for the Father’s Table, which feeds those less fortunate. The camp is funded solely by donations.

West End United Methodist Church in Thomasville will hold its annual Lenten prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. today (Feb. 16) in the fellowship hall. The special guest speaker will be Glenn Shelton. Everyone is invited to attend. West End United Methodist Church is located at 600 Lexington Ave.
The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Sunrise Ave. in Thomasville, will hold a soup lunch from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24.
The menu includes a variety of soups, cornbread, crackers, dessert and drinks. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 10 to 3 years old. Children under age 3 eat free. Proceeds will benefit United Methodist Women mission projects.
Fairview United Methodist Church will host their "Looking for Spring" chicken pie supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. Plates also will include sweet potatoes, green beans and corn, slaw, roll, dessert and drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and under. Vegetable plates will be available for $5. Take-out plates will also be available. Whole chicken pies will not be sold.
All proceeds will go toward the Methodist Women’s Chrismon project, the Silver Valley Backpack Program, and other building projects. The church is located on Old 109 close to Denton. For more information call 859-4742.
The Rev. Lisa Schwartz will be installed as minister of The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem 4 p.m. Sunday. The speaker at the regular 10:30 a.m. service will be the Rev. John Saxon, the lead minister of the Fellowship of Raleigh. At the 9 a.m. forum, Joy Irwin, Andrea Morrison and Katherine Acenas will discuss “All About General Assembly: What to Expect in Louisville This Year.” The fellowship is at 4055 Robinhood Road. Hopewell United Methodist Church will hold a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, The menu includes eggs,grits, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, and choice of beverage. The prices are $8 for adults, $3 for 6 to 12 years, and free
for ages 5 and under. All proceeds will go to the building fund.
