Talkin'Tville June 5
Students in Davidson County are just days away from the first official day of summer vacation. In the days leading up to their absence from campus, some are pondering what the summer holds for them.
Three students at East Davidson hope for a highly productive period.
Q: What do you plan to do during summer break?
I plan to get a job and save up every paycheck I get. That way, I can afford a car because I'll be moving to Denton with my grandpa. I want to drive all the way to East again next year. That's my main goal this summer. I'm just really excited about coming back and continuing things like [extracurricular opportunities] like yearbook, because it showed me I wanted to further my interest in graphic design and possibly make a career of it.

After graduation, I plan on getting a job while my fiance is at boot camp for the Marines. I want to save as much money as I can for my wedding. My first day of high school, I fell flat on my face and scattered all my books down the hallway. That's actually how I met my fiance; he helped me pick up all of my books.

I'm going to Africa in five days for a missions trip. I'll be there for two months at an AIDS orphanage. I look forward to seeing God in the children and definitely seeing how different it is than America. That's part of the reason I'm going. I think there is so much more to this world than going to high school everyday and complaining about school and stuff like that. I just want to see what that is like.
