Geek the Library

Jul. 30, 2014 @ 12:51 PM

Our summer reading program is winding down so I want to thank our speakers who informed and entertained, our teen volunteers who helped make programs run smoothly and all of you who read or attended a program. Thank you for another successful summer!

The children’s end of summer party is August 1 at 10 a.m. Our special guests are the team from Mad Science. Join us for experiments, laughter and cake!

On August 6 at 3 p.m. teens will learn what they’re really eating in a food science class.

Celebrate the end of the teen summer reading program with cosmic bowling, glow sticks and snacks on August 8 at 4 p.m. Teen volunteers will also be recognized at the party.

The library store will be open for children to spend their book bucks through August 8. The last day for teens to log activity is August 8. The last day for adults to log activity or turn in tickets is August 9.

Our adult book club meets August 19 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Orphan Train by Christine Kline.

CSI: Thomasville has been rescheduled for August 21 at 6 p.m. Detective Conover of the Thomasville PD will test your crime scene knowledge and separate fact from TV fiction. This program is appropriate for ages 7 and up.

The Thomasville Library wants to add a new verb to your vocabulary — “geek.” To geek something means you are knowledgeable about it or have an intense passion for it. The purpose of our “Geek the Library” campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of libraries. Everyone is passionate about something—everyone geeks something—and the library supports them all. I geek crafts. What do you geek?
