Christmas lights are like some people who voted  in the last election. They all hang together, half of them don't work, and the ones who do, aren't all that bright.

Thanks again to the Fair Grove Lions and Thomasville Tourism for again organizing this year's Christmas parade. Since the parade, Thomasville is aglow and in the holiday spirit. I hope all of us remember the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of the Christ Child. If you haven't done so, take a stroll of downtown and look at  the  Christmas decorations and do your  Christmas  shopping in Thomasville!

The Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce has a wonderful program to strengthen leadership abilities of youth in Davidson County, but financing the program has become a challenge.
Thanks to our local Ruby Tuesday, and their wine supplier (Cultivate Wine), all local citizens can help — simply vote online.  The Chamber is  in  competition to receive up to $5,000.  Just go to this website www.cultivatewines.com/cause/70867 and vote.
You can learn more about the program there, but the most important thing is to vote.  And you can vote every day up through Dec. 17.  Tell your friends, family and coworkers.  They can make a difference too!  Come on, take 30 seconds to log-on, and vote.  You must be 21 years old and on Facebook.

Here is additional bird information.  If you think about it, what is the bird that get's your attention most every time?  I bet the brilliant, scarlet red  male Cardinal came to mind.
Cardinals usually live year-round in dense underbrush or in parks located in towns and villages.
In the winter you may see flocks of cardinals numbering as many 60 or 70. The female cardinal is harder to see because of her color  — brown and olive-gray. The female builds her nest in the spring  in dense vines or bushes.  While she sits on the eggs, the male feeds her.
After the chicks hatch, both parents bring food to the chicks. The Cardinal is the state bird of more states than any other. Of course the Cardinal is our state bird. Other states who share the Cardinal as their state bird are Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

In the last  ''Thomasville Trivia", we mentioned three famous bands that had played at the T. Austin Finch Auditorium. I received  a call from a reader indicating that Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo and Tommy Dorsey  had been deceased for years.  We realized that all are deceased, and (were not present) but the orchestras are still playing  under the name of the famous leaders, as was the case in  appearances at Finch Auditorium.                         ******
I recently found an web address that you can enter in your Internet browser and it will show you the property on a particular street address . Simply enter: http:showmystreet.com/. When prompted, enter your street address and see what happens. This is very interesting, my friend.

Tomorrow is the first Sunday in Advent. There is a traditional French  carol,  "People, Look East."   Here are the words to the first  and fourth verse:
"People, look East. The time is near of the crowning of the year. Make your house fair as you are able, trim the Hearth and set the table.  People, look East and sing today: Love, the Guest is on the way.
"Angels announce with shouts of mirth, him who brings new life to earth. Set every peak and valley humming with the word, the Lord is coming. People look East and sing today: Love, the Lord, is on the way.

An aphorism is a short clear statement telling a general truth.
Here are a few:
A fool and his money can throw one heck of a party.
When blondes have more fun, do they know it?
Learn from your parents' mistakes, use birth control.
Money isn't everything but it keeps the kids in touch.
