Christine Black
LEXINGTON — Christine “Teenie” Lambeth Black, 91, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 26. at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.

Mollie Overcash Embry
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Mollie Lucille Overcash Embry, 82, a resident of the Fair Grove Forest community, died Saturday evening, February 23, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born on October 26, 1930, in Davidson County to Willie Lee Overcash and Kate Marie Collins Overcash.  She graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Cedar Lodge Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and former teacher of the primary Sunday School Class.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Overcash and her sister, Frances Johnson.
On July 22, 1950, she married Buddie Ross Embry, who survives of the home. Also surviving are her son, Donald Embry and wife Martha of Thomasville; daughter, Kim Payne and husband Clifton of Denton; brother, Herman Overcash of Thomasville; two sisters, Hazel Prevo and Pete Davis, and Bill Stone and husband Jimmy, all of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Barron Embry and wife Beth, Brad Embry and wife Kim, and John Payne; two great-grandchildren, Baden and Brinlee Embry; sister-in-law, Dot Overcash of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held today (February 27) at 3 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Roy Cantrell and the Rev. Max Evington officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the ER, Cardiac Care, and ICU Staff at High Point Regional Hospital for their loving care.

Virginia Hartman
LEXINGTON — Virginia Dare Craver Hartman, 93, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
The funeral service will be held at 2p.m. today (Feb. 27) at Enterprise Moravian Church. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.

Betty H. Harvey
LEXINGTON — Betty Rose Hedrick Harvey, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at Brookstone Retirement Center.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 25,  at Second Reformed United Church of Christ. Burial followed at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington assisted the family.

Elizabeth Hay
Elizabeth Ann Collett Hay, 84, Kingsport, died at 10:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Asbury Place at Baysmont.
A memorial service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 24, at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport. A graveside service will be held at noon today (Feb. 27) at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport is serving the family.

Lance Hill Jr.
HIGH POINT- Lance Foster Hill Jr., 20, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.
The memorial service will be held at New Temple Ministry Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
Cremation services were entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.

Albert S. Morgan III
HIGH ROCK LAKE— Albert S. Morgan III (Butch Morgan) 65, passed away peacefully Feb. 21, 2013 at his High Rock Lake home with his daughter by his side.
He took his last breath overlooking the lake where he lived and loved so very much. His final day he was surrounded by family and friends that Butch had touched in some small way throughout his life.
Butch was born Feb. 22, 1947 to Albert S. Morgan Jr. and Margaret (Floyd) Morgan.
He is survived by his mother Margaret Morgan, his loving daughter Laurie (Squeak), grandson Bradley Hunt,  granddaughters, Nicole Monk, Brandi Monk, and Tiffany Monk.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert S. Morgan Jr. and brother Chuck Morgan.
At the family's request, a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the family home.

LEXINGTON — Orin Glenn “Buddy” Smith,  91, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today (Feb. 27) at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Davidson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Goolsby Whicker 
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Goolsby Whicker, age 84, a resident of Thomasville, passed away at her home on February 24, 2013. 
Betty was born in Spartanburg, SC on Jan. 24, 1929 to the late Henry Clayton Goolsby and Mae Daugherty Goolsby. She attended Girls’ High School where she stayed active in student government, the Athletic Association, as well as the orchestra. Betty later graduated from Wake Forest College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and music. She was formerly a member of the Atlanta Symphony, Winston Salem Symphony, Raleigh Civic Opera Co. and Wake Forest Opera Workshop.
While at Wake Forest Betty met and after graduating married Dr. Thomas Whicker. They were married for over 45 years before he preceded her in death. During her time in Thomasville she stayed very active with non-profit organizations and gave her time freely to the Woman’s Club, Cub Scouts, and The Coffee House in which she started in the late sixties as a safe environment for teenagers to gather in Thomasville. As well as being very artistic and enjoying a wide range of talents including, but not limited to creating pottery and playing the piano, Mrs. Whicker thoroughly enjoyed being a member of her social organizations which included the Supper Club, Lunch Brunch, and Colonial Country Club. Her social organizations included the Black Mountain area as well, where she visited as often as possible. Betty enjoyed life and family, but above all, her favorite activity was spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Marcus Austin Whicker.
She is survived by her son, Charles Whicker and wife Karen of Thomasville, a sister Anne Tucker of Savannah GA., and three very special grandchildren; Daniel Whicker and wife Ashley of Bristol, TN., Dr. Jessica Williams and husband Phillip of Winston Salem, and Jacob Whicker of Thomasville.
Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, Feb.28, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the J. C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Pastors Byron Barker and Michael Bowers officiating.

Minnie L. Tate
THOMASVILLE —  Minnie Lee Williams Tate, 80,died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be Sunday in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Gaffney, S.C. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home.  S. E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
