Mary Pressley Reece
THOMASVILLE — Lifelong Thomasville resident, Mary P. Reece has taken her last stroll down the hallways of Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. On April 16, 2013 at age 84, Mary passed away without pain or illness.  She just ran out of steam and took her last breath on Tuesday morning.
To those who knew Mary well, she will be remembered as a very active lady constantly on the move.  She thoroughly enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking new recipes, reading, walking, spending time at the beach, and traveling with friends. Memories will serve us well of Mary and her determined spirit.
A special THANK YOU to the staff in the Alzheimer’s Unit at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation for taking special care of our mother and friend.
Always a worker, she retired as Office Manager from Thomasville Furniture Industries after 40 years of service.  After retiring, she continued to work in catering with Paul Myers Catering during furniture markets and other banquet activities at Thomasville Furniture.
During Mary’s active career and life, she served on the City of Thomasville Council from 1987 to 1993.  She was a long-serving volunteer of the American Red Cross from 1985 until 1998, serving as Chapter Chairperson from 1995 to 1996.  She served as Board Chairperson for the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce and as member of the BB&T Board of Directors.
Mary was married to Edwin Reece who preceded her in death on July 4, 2000.  Mary has a surviving son Mark and his wife Sandy of Winston-Salem, NC.  Also surviving are grandsons Erik and wife Amanda and Craig; and great-grandchildren Jersey and Laine.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Her wish was to help continue the search for a cure of Alzheimer's disease and other medical research. In her own way, she continues to help others and work for the good!
