Carol Jean Duncan
THOMASVILLE — Carol Jean Duncan, age 54, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at her home.
Carol was born on September 8, 1958, in Conway, S.C., to Frank and Shelby Harrison Lewis. She had been a resident of Thomasville for the past thirteen years and was a member of the Church of Tomorrow in Thomasville.
Carol was employed with Colonial LLC in the embroidery department. She especially enjoyed decorating. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frankie Lewis.
In 1986 she married Roy Lee Duncan, who survives of the home. Also surviving are her sisters, Jolene Way of Greensboro, Tammy Mitchem of Thomasville and Geri Ann Goble of Arizona; and one brother, Roger Evans of Morganton. Carol has one special niece, Alana Smith.
The family will receive friends at the residence Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Stephen E. Erwin
DENTON — Stephen E. Erwin, 49, of Denton, NC died Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Denton, NC.
He was born in Logan, Ohio, on April 19, 1963, a son of the late Rev. Gene and Donna M. Lescalleet Erwin. He was currently employed as a certified welder for Industrial Performance Group and a member of Free Pilgrim Church.
Preceding Stephen in death was his brother David L. Erwin.
Surviving are his wife Lora J. (Glasure) Erwin; twin daughters, Valerie and Veronica Erwin; son Joseph Erwin; five grandchildren. Richie, Jaydon, Jaysin, Jayceemae and Jayla; two brothers, Jonathan Erwin and Donavon Erwin; two sisters, Carla Hall and Angela Emkey; stepmother, Carol Erwin and stepsister Deanna Burnham.
Friends may call at Hoff – Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction, Ohio from 6 to 8 p.m. today (April 17), where funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, with Pastor Steven Manley officiating.
Burial will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery, New Alexandria, Ohio.

LEXINGTON — William Carson Greene, 81, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today (April 17) at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ellen Earlene Webb Hemrick, 86, a resident of 1156 Johnsontown Road, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, in Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born May 30, 1926, in Starke County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Henry Bowman Webb and Nellie Shimer Webb. Mrs. Hemrick was a music teacher for many years at Carolina Christian Academy. Mrs. Hemrick also taught private piano lessons out of her home for many years. She attended Faith Community Chapel.
She was married May 17, 1956 to the Rev. George Ray Hemrick who preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1973 and she was also preceded in death by a son Sammy Ray Hemrick.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Snedeker and husband Peter of Thomasville, and Cara Sue DeFriece and husband Keith of Lexington; two sons, the Rev. Kenneth Hemrick and wife Kathy of Thomasville, and the Rev. Glenn Hemrick and wife Cheryl of Griffin, Ga; nine grandchildren, Dale Ray Hemrick, Derek Hemrick, Starla Hemrick, Drema Morris, Brent Snedeker, Ona Hemrick, Bryan Hemrick, Regina Hemrick and Michelle Kepley; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee Morris, Colton Morris, Sam Hemrick, Riley Kepley, Brody Kepley, Timothy Snedeker and Joshua Snedeker.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, in Faith Community Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Davis, the Rev. Kenneth Hemrick, the Rev. Glenn Hemrick and the Rev. Joe Smith officiating. The interment will be in Free Pilgrim Church Cemetery. The family will be at J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home.

THOMASVILLE — Mr. Donald Grant Laughlin, 79, a resident of Parker Street, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as a result of an accidental fall at his home.
He was born on August 30, 1933 in Guilford County, NC to Parker Holmes Laughlin and Rachel Kersey Laughlin. He retired from Baker Furniture as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Harley Grace Smith.
On July 21, 1984, he married Betsy Gibson, whom he had been together with since the 1970s, who survives of the home. Aalso surviving are his daughters, Vicki Laughlin Layton and husband Alan of Greensboro, Cindy Foster and husband Terry of High Point, Penny Snook and husband Robert of Reading, Pa., and Wendi Patterson and husband Todd of High Point; stepchildren, Darrell Welch and wife Susan of Archdale, Leigh Reynolds and husband Scott of High Point, Hilda Bulla of Lexington, Resa Barker and husband Bobby of Trinity, and Canita Simpson and husband Billy of Thomasville; brother, John Parker Laughlin of Thomasville; sisters, Virginia Parmley of Nashville, Tenn., and Cora Nell Bryan and husband Alver of Panama City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Jody, Michael, Brittany, Meghan, Greg, Jamie, Heather, Tabetha, Zachery, and David; and four great-grandchildren, Carlee, Keri, Kaleb, and Grayson.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Ferguson and the Rev. Mitchel Hayworth officiating. Interment will follow in Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Laughlin will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today (April 17) and at other times at the home.
