THOMASVILLE — Cory Dale Embler, 22, of Thomasville, died at High Point Regional Hospital on Oct. 25, 2013.
Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 28, at Thomasville Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Colonial Baptist Church in Trinity at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
HIGH POINT — Linda Hollis, 71, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Hospice House of the Piedmont.
She was born in Thomasville to the late Dorothy and Alfred Payne. She was a resident of Thomasville, but had also lived in Dallas, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and Jackson, Mississippi. She worked most recently at The High Point Country Club where she was no longer able to work because of declining health. She spent 12 years at the High Point Chamber of Commerce. Linda had been a member of the High Point Kiwanis Club. She also worked with many different boards and organizations while at the High Point Chamber and enjoyed the friendships that she formed as a result.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Bates Payne, and her father Alfred Payne of Thomasville. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Denny of High Point; a brother, Gary Payne and his wife, Rebecca of Cary; daughter, Kay Hornady and her husband Lee of Thomasville; a son, Brandon Byerly and his wife Terri of Thomasville; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and the “favorite daughter,” Connie Garceau, and her husband Henry of High Point and many other close friends and five mangy dogs.
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, October 30th 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist at 167 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Shady Grove United Methodist. Reverend Joe Westfall and Reverend Jeremy Pegram will be officiating the services. The family will meet other times at the home of Kay Hornady.
In lieu of flowers the family request that you send someone that you love those flowers so that they may be able to enjoy them while they are alive.
LEXINGTON — Damon Ray Lewis, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 24, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Oct.30, at Jersey Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Davidson Funeral Home.
THOMASVILLE — Leon Thomas Lyndon, 81,died at his home on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.
A memorial graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. J.C. Green & Sons is in charge of arrangements.
LEXINGTON — Willis Hugh Walser, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 201,3 in Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
