Myrtle Harden

HIGH POINT -- Mrs. Myrtle Willard Harden, 87, a resident of Westchester Manor and formerly of W. Lexington Avenue, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, July 24, 2013, at Westchester Manor Nursing Center.

She was born on May 1, 1926 in Stokes County, NC to Bob Willard and Nina Hart Willard.  She retired from Rex Plastics in Thomasville and was a member of The True Church of God, where she was their song leader.  She was known at Westchester Manor as being a friend to all the residents and staff and for sharing her love of music during the church services.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Harden on July 13, 1975.

Surviving are her son, Robert Harden and wife Teresa of High Point; two grandchildren, Emily Alphin and husband Kevin of Winston-Salem and Brandon Harden of High Point; great-grandson, Logan Alphin; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Clarence C. Stoneman and the Rev. Chris Clontz officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her son, Robert.

Charles Baker

LEXINGTON — Charles Michael Baker, 52,  died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30,  at Freedom Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at their home.

 

Peggy Briggs

LEXINGTON — Peggy Rhodes Briggs,  82,  died Thursday, July 25, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday,  July 28, at Bethany United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Davidson Funeral Home.

 

Linda Cantrell

HIGH POINT — Linda June Messer Cantrell,  78, died on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church .The family will receive friends at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Wallburg from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday and again from 6 to 8 p.m.

 

Tommie Holmes

LEXINGTON – Tommie Wade Holmes, 74, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Alston Brook.

The funeral service was held Friday, July 26,  at Center Hill Baptist Church.  Burial followed in church cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.

 

Alpha Reddick

THOMASVILLE — Alpha Thomas Reddick died Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

The funeral service was held Friday, July 25, at Unity United Methodist Church in Thomasville. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is assisting the family.

 

Bonita Royall

LEXINGTON — Bonita Christley Royall, 60,  died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 29,  at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Betty  Smith

LEXINGTON — Betty Lou Hedrick Smith, 81,  died July 25, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27,  at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

 

Sylvia Strickland

THOMASVILLE — Sylvia Helen Hughes Strickland, 84, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
