Minister Michael Johnson 

THOMASVILLE — Minister Michael Johnson was born on March 25, 1979, to the union of Willie Mac Manning and Rose Johnson Manning.

Michael departed this earthly life ever so sweetly to go from his labor to reward on Friday, August 9, 2013, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston- Salem, N.C.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with a family visitation beginning promptly at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the funeral home with a family hour from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Jadarious Nahiem Johnson , his loving parents, Willie and Rose Manning, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gladys Luther Burnett

WINSTON-SALEM — Gladys Luther Burnett, Jr. was born on February 15, 1949 to Gladys L. Burnett, Sr. and Eva Mae Burnett.

Gladys departed this earthly life ever so sweetly on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his residence in Winston- Salem, N.C.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at1 2:30 p.m. at Hamlet Chapel C.M.E Church, Pittsboro, NC. Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery.

Ernest 'Bo' Hamilton

WINSTON-SALEM — Ernest Charles “Bo” Hamilton, was born on July 5, 1955 to the late Richard and Edna Mae Hamilton in Tampa, Florida.

Ernest departed this earthly life ever so sweetly on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Salisbury, N.C., with a family visitation beginning promptly at 2:30 p.m. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:00 am from Salisbury National Cemetery.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Henrietta Thomas Hamilton; one daughter, Tamala Hamilton; one son, Terry Henderson; five grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John Harris

WINSTON-SALEM — John Wiley Harris, 73,  died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16,  at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

 

Vernon Hinkle              

WELCOME — Vernon Andrew Hinkle, 76,  died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17,  at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16,  at the funeral home.

 

Arlene Carlstrom Ogren

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Arlene Carlstrom Ogren, 96, a resident of Piedmont Crossing, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the nursing center.

Arlene was born and raised in Lockport, Illinois and lived in the Chicago area until 1972 when she relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her husband Carl upon his retirement.  At the age of 81 as a widow, she moved to Piedmont Crossing Retirement Center to be near her sons, David and Douglas, and several grandchildren.  She resided there for the past fifteen years until her passing.

Arlene was a devoted mother and wife and a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her son; David of High Point (formerly of Thomasville), Douglas of Belews Creek and Thomas of Pennington, New Jersey.  She also is survived by eight grandchildren, Kerrie Brannock, Krissie Furr, Kim King, Kelly Scruggs, Leah Ogren, Jessica Wong, Amanda Morgan and Colin Ogren, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Lockport, Illinois.

The family request that memorial contributions be made in honor of her grandson, Jason Brannock, to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, 1801 Williamette Street, Suite 200, Eugene, OR  97401.
