Louise Winslow

THOMASVILLE — Louise Harmon Sink Winslow passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 after several months of declining health.

Louise was born on January 18, 1923 to Worley Clinton Harmon and Ruby Dameron Harmon Daniel. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Franklin Sink; her first husband, Lee Roy Sink; and her second husband, William Harrison Winslow.

Louise was a resident of Thomasville most of her life. She attended public schools in both Thomasville and High Point and later attended Ashemore business College in Thomasville. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for North State Veneer Company and later did secretarial work for Commercial Carving. She loved antiques and going to auctions and yard sales. In the 1990’s, she opened Country Courtyard Antiques on Randolph Street and ran it until she retired in 1999. She also loved flowers and animals and spent her later years tending to her gardens and pets.

Louise is survived by her son, Jerry Leland Sink and his wife Pam; daughter, Joyce (Joy) Sink Melton; granddaughter, Lori sink Lynn and her husband George; great granddaughters, Abby Lynn and Anna Lynn. In addition, she is survived by a half sister, Dorcas Harmon Johnson; and several half nieces and nephews; eight cats and two dogs.

At her request, Louise did not have a formal funeral service. She had a private graveside service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Her sentiments could be expressed in this verse of a poem by Edgar Albert Guest (1891 – 1959):

When I come to the end of the road,

And the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.

Why cry for a soul set free.

Miss me a little but not for long

And not with your head held low.

Remember the love that we once shared.

Miss me, but let me go.

The family wishes to express appreciation to a true and devoted friend Nancy Nicholson, who sat faithfully by Louise’s side many hours through this difficult time, to Rebecca Wilson and the many others who have given their love and support, and to the nurses and aides of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House of Winston-Salem for making it possible for Louise to spend her last days at home among the things she loved.

Louise asked that anyone who wishes to make a remembrance in her name to send it to the Davidson County Animal shelter, 490 Glendale Road, Lexington, NC 27292. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is assisting the Winslow family. Online condolences may be sent to the Winslow family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
