THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Doris Spainhour Hiatt, 87, of Carrington Place, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 7, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born September 14, 1926 in Guilford County to the late James William and Grace Teague Spainhour. Mrs. Hiatt was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Warren Hiatt; and brother, Bill Spainhour.
Surviving are her two daughters, Brenda H. Zenker and husband Ronald of Thomasville, and Gail H. Aderhold and husband Doug of Winston-Salem; and granddaughter, Brandi Zenker.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Clontz officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Mt. Pleasant Church Family Life Center Fund, 6516 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville, NC 27360.

DENTON — Shelby Jean Loflin McDowell, 69, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The service was held Sunday, June 8, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
