James Curry

THOMASVILLE — James Marshall Curry, 86, died Friday, Nov 8, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Curry will be cremated and there will not be a formal service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292. J.C. Green & Sons in Thomasville is serving the family.


Beulah  Duhart

THOMASVILLE —  Beulah Marcella Duhart, 84,  died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13,  in  Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at her  home.  S. E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.


Rosa Gallimore

WINSTON SALEM- Rosa M. Gallimore, 89, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at her residence. Prominence Funeral Home in Thomasville is serving the family.


LaVerne  Hill

THOMASVILLE — LaVerne Jarrett Hill died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, in Moses H. Cone Hospital.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in J. C. Green and Sons Chapel.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12,   at the funeral home and other times at the homes of the family.


Berta Jenkins

TRINITY — Mrs. Berta Freeman Jenkins, 75, a resident of Wilderness Trail, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at her home.

She was born on March 14, 1938 in Bennettsville, SC to Willie Boyd Freeman and Bertha Jane Haley Freeman.  She was a member of Smyrna Grove Community Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Bishop Eugene Lassiter Jenkins on November 29, 2001; granddaughter, Emily Lauren Jenkins; brothers, James, Fred, Boyd, and Franklin “Bobby” Freeman; and sisters, Betty Jackson and Ruth Robinson.

Surviving are her children, David Jenkins and wife Annette of Trinity, Pam Graham and husband Danny of Denton, Jeanene Fitzgerald and husband Joe of Lexington, and Faith Wilson and husband Lloyd of Trinity; sister, Susie Parker of Bennettsville, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Jenkins, Gracie Jenkins, Daniel Graham and wife Heather, Spencer Graham and wife Traci, Zane Fitzgerald; and Micah Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Danielle Graham.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Smyrna Grove Community Church with the Rev. Danny Graham officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Jenkins will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and at other times at the home.

Garnett Lee Rice, Jr.

THOMASVILLE — Garnett Lee Rice, Jr., 68, passed away Sat. November 9th, 2013 in Thomasville, NC. 

Mr. Rice had recently moved from Carolina Beach, NC where he lived for 23 years as a property owner/manager.  He was a licensed charter boat captain and enjoyed fishing for many years.

He was also actively involved in his beach community.  His last few working years he helped manage the Arcade in Kure Beach for a dear friend. 

He is preceded in death by his father Garnett L. Rice, Sr. and mother Virginia Rice.  He is survived by daughter Lisa Rice of High Point, granddaughter Jordan Rice, sister Sheila Smith, brother Greg Rice and wife Sandi, former wife and friend Cheryl Rice, many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Sissy. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16th at the Salvation Army Chapel, 10 Pine St., Thomasville at 2 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship.  Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Re4Him Homeless Ministry of the Triad, P.O.
