Joe Parker Badger
TRINITY — Mr. Joe Parker Badger, 58, a current resident of Trinity and formerly of Jacksonville, FL, went to sleep with Jesus on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Thomasville Medical Center.
He was born on October 31, 1954 in Davidson County to John Charles Badger, Sr. and Georgie Mae Swing. He was a former employee of Hunter Farm. He was baptized on February 7, 2009 at The Thomasville 7th Day Adventist Church, where he was a member.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Charles Badger, Jr.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Georgie Mae Swing Lewis of Trinity; brother, Eddie Acosta and wife Vicki of Thomasville; sisters, Pamela Osman and husband Phil of Alabama and Janice Permar of Trinity; nephew, Scott Acosta; nieces, Heather Powell, Mitzi Self, Courtney Badger, Jessica Acosta; aunts, Sue Henry, Shirley Robinson, and countless more long time friends.
Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. today April 10, at Thomasville 7th Day Adventist Church with Pastor Steve Bietz officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church or at other times at the home of his mother, Georgie Lewis.

LEXINGTON — Russell Stokes Day, 51, died Sunday April 7, 2013.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today (April 10) at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside rites by the Davidson County Firemen’s Honor Guard. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.
LEXINGTON — Jessica Rae Brewer Fletcher, 39, died Friday April 5, 2013 at her home.
A Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Good Hope United Methodist.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her parents.
LEXINGTON — Arnold “Butch” Ray Grubb, 65, dIed Friday, April 5, 2013 in WFBH-Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today (April 10) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
LEXINGTON — Shirley Ashcroft Hansen died Saturday, April 6, 2013.
A celebration of her life will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Davidson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Albany, N.Y.
Velna Hill Leonard
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Velna Lucille Black Hill Leonard, 92, a resident of Westchester Manor Nursing Center, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at Westchester Manor.
She was born on May 16, 1920 in Davidson County, NC to James Ernest Black and Bertha Rodema Alford Black. She was a homemaker and affiliated with Bethel United Methodist Church and after her marriage to Raymond Leonard joined Victory Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Matthew Hill, Sr. in 1965 and Raymond Smith Leonard in 1990; stepdaughter, Nell Welborn; stepson, Rayborn Leonard; brother, Carlie Black; and two great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her two sons, Paul M. Hill, Jr. and wife Carol of High Point and Ronald Black and wife Ramona of LaPlata, MD; stepchildren, Charles Leonard and wife Arlette and Nancy Coker, all of Thomasville; brother, Lloyd Black and wife Irene of Thomasville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Marcus Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday two hours prior to the service from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

LEXINGTON — Carroll Thomas McDade Sr., 78, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at his home.

Walter Cletus Wilson, 55, died Friday, April 5, 2013 in High Point Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, at the Thomasville Funeral Home chapel followed by interment in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
