Wesley O-Brian Suggs
St. Cloud, Minn. — A gathering of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Williams Dingmann Chapel in St. Cloud for Wesley Suggs, 76, who died Saturday at the Veteran’s Administrative Medical Center, St. Cloud. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery at Camp Ripley. Family and Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Wesley was born on September 15, 1936 in Loris, South Carolina to Edward L. Suggs and Julia Alice (Lee) Suggs. He married Edith I. Dillard and the couple later divorced. He was known to be a snappy dresser and was not afraid to incorporate color into his wardrobe. Wesley proudly served his country for 27 years in the United States Air Force.
After his honorable discharge from the military he received a degree and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as an accountant.
He had a real passion for bowling most of his life. He was a former member of the Long Leaf Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. Wesley was also a member of the Papillion Nebraska Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
Wesley enjoyed all sports throughout his whole life. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include children, Deborah Lynn Scherer of Royalton and Mark D. Ross of Pine River; brothers, Jack Suggs, Greenville of South Carolina, Johnie Suggs of Thomasville, North Carolina, and Donald R. “Bennie” Suggs of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald R. Suggs and Roy Suggs, and sister Hazel Suggs.
