Odell Byerly

LEXINGTON — Phillip Odell Byerly, 92, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Good Hope United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.

 

Mary Coleman

THOMASVILLE — Mary Alice Coleman McDaniel, 87, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

A graveside service was held Saturday, March 22, at in Liberty Baptist Church. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home served the family.

 

Carolyn Darnell

THOMASVILLE- Carolyn Henderson Darnell, 75, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Thomasville Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

‘Pop’ Kendrick

THOMASVILLE  —  Mr. Raymond Junior Kendrick, “Pop,” 71, a resident of  Thomasville, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2014.                   

Raymond  was born March 28, 1942, in Critz, Virginia a son of Raymond Grover and

Lois Gammons Kendrick, who preceded him in death.

He was a kind, wonderful man who leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Carol Wayland Kendrick, the love of his life; two children, Raymond Kendrick II “Bubby” (Marti), and Kathy Kendrick Murphy (David); five grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Brandon Thomas Benfield,  Raymond Junior Kendrick III, Matthew James Kendrick, Jessica Lyn  Kendrick and Travis Charles Benfield (deceased).

Also  surviving are his brothers, Vernon Kendrick and Randolph Kendrick;  sisters, Brenda Barnhart, Betty Wingfield, Janet Jones and Juanita Beal (deceased).

Pop was an avid race fan and racer, enjoyed much success at 311 Speedway  and Rainbow Speedway in the 70s and 80s, and was crew chief for his son’s race team at Caraway Speedway coaching him to three track championships. He was able to fix anything. Pop was a master mechanic, carpenter and handyman and retired from Labonte Racing. He will live forever in our hearts and memories.

A  funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Soles and Rev Rodney Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Ralph' Looz

THOMASVILLE – Raffaele “Ralph” Looz, 73, died Friday, March 21, at Hospice Home at High Point.

A prayer service was held Monday, March 24, in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home.

An additional service and burial will be held later in Monte Diprocida, Napoli, Italy.

 

Joan Nance

DENTON —  Joan Marie Warren (Butch) Nance,  88, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her home.

The funeral service was held Sunday, March 23, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel . Burial followed at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

 

Angie Thomas     

LEXINGTON — Angie Hill Thomas, 74, of Country Club Drive, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, at First United Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service.  Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Betty Whisnant

LEXINGTON — Betty Jeanette Brown Whisnant, 82, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Brookstone Retirement Center.

A formal service will not be held.  Thomasville Funeral Home is assisting the family.
