THOMASVILLE — Gracie Alkire died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A private service was held Friday, Feb. 8. J.C. Green & Sons assisted the family.

Majel B. Beck
LEXINGTON — Majel Black Beck, 93, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Piedmont Crossing. 
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ.  Burial was in the church cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home assisted the family.

Betty Everhart
LEXINGTON - Betty Caroline Goss Everhart, 85, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice.
The funeral was Friday, Feb. 8, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Davidson Funeral Home assisted the family.

Donald Glover
DENTON — Donald “Donnie” Raeford Glover, 61, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home.

Rachel Hobbs
LEXINGTON  - Rachel Curry Hobbs, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at her daughter’s home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.

Josephine Ingram
LEXINGTON — Josephine Hall Ingram, 82,  died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at her home.
The funeral was held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

LEWISVILLE — Christine Michelle Lark died Feb. 4, 2013.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today (Feb. 9) at Thomasville Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow.

LEXINGTON — Ruby Jane Slaydon Parnell Lawrence, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013,  at Brookstone Retirement Center.
The funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 8, at Reeds Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home assisted the family.

George McCarn
ROCKWELL — George Edward McCarn, 81, died at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte Monday, Feb. 4, 2013.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Center Hill Baptist Church. Piedmont Funeral Home assisted the family.

Mary Frances Parry
THOMASVILLE — Mary Frances Campbell Parry, age 91, of Thomasville, NC died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Triad Care & Rehabilitative Center, High Point.
Mrs. Parry was born December 2, 1921, the daughter of Robert and Mary Susan Burr Campbell.
Mary Frances was a native of Chesterfield, SC and a US Army Nurse during WWII. She retired from Thomasville Hospital as a nurse and was a member of Carolina Baptist Church of Thomasville. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Mary and Alton Wayne Perdue of Lexington, NC; four grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC.
The funera was held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, with the Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial followed in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Lee Schafer
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Margaret Lee Schafer, age 92, died February 6, 2013.
Margaret was born October 17, 1920, in Thomasville, NC. The eldest of four children born to George Hill Lee and Bessie Bevan Lee, Margaret was preceded in death by her two younger brothers Bill and Fred Lee, both of Thomasville, NC.
She was the widow of the late Dr. Earl William Schafer, Jr. Margaret and Earl met while Earl was a resident doctor and Margaret a nurse at Bowman Gray Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. They made High Point, NC their home where Dr. Schafer became the first orthopedic surgeon in the area.
Margaret stayed busy raising their four sons while giving unselfishly of herself to her church and community. Her intense passion for growing and arranging flowers was only superseded by her love for family and friends. Many will remember Margaret as always having a smile and something nice to say to anyone within the sound of her voice.
Margaret is survived by her sister Janie Lee Manuel of Thomasville, NC; her four sons, Earl William Schafer, III (Bill) of Charlotte, NC; David Lee Schafer and wife, Alice of Raleigh, NC; Stuart McCoy Schafer and wife, Kathleen of Mooresville, NC; and, Robert Bevan Schafer and wife, Andrea of Denton, NC. She is also survived by her three granddaughters, Sarah Margaret Schafer Holley of New York, NY; Anna Marie Schafer of Raleigh, NC and Kristina Marie Schafer of Mooresville, NC.  She also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many at Coventry House and Chatham County Hospital for their unending affection, kindness and care.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in High Point, NC., officiated by Dr. Jim Wilson of First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 918 N. Main Street, High Point, NC  27262.

THOMASVILLE —  Robert Max Smith, 83, died Wednesday, Feb 6, 2013, in GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb 23, in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.

DENTON — William Donald “Don” Surratt, 83,  died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Briggs Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle.

HIGH POINT — Karen Anne Sledge Trotter, 60, died Thursday, Feb.  7, 2013, at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. today (Feb. 9) at Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will be in Calvary United Church of Christ Cemetery in Thomasville.
