Pearl Blake
DENTON — Pearl Cole Blake, 88, died Friday, April 19, 2013.
A graveside service was held Monday, April 22, at Lick Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Briggs Funeral Home in Denton assisted the family.

Virginia Carter
LEXINGTON — Virginia Powell Carter, 88, died at her home, Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
A celebration of her life was held 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Davidson Funeral Home served the family.

Beatrice  Miller Hicks
THOMASVILLE —  Mrs. Beatrice (Bea) Miller Hicks, 98, a resident of Thomasville passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Beatrice was born in Davidson County, NC on December 23, 1914 a daughter of the late Melvin Brown Miller and Ora Jane Kinney Miller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Miller Parrish and two brothers, Robert Miller and W.C. Miller who died in 1941 at Pearl Harbor.
Bea was a lifelong resident of Thomasville except for the time she was in Baltimore working for Martin Aircraft after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She was a graduate of Thomasville High School, class of 1933, a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville, and a lifelong member of the Gleaners group. A loving mother and grandmother, Bea was admired and respected by her co-workers and anyone who knew her. She loved life, laughter and was simply a happy lady. A giving person, she was always willing to help and serve others and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they gave to Bea.
On February 27, 1947 she married Benjamin (Bennie) Dallas Hicks who died May 20, 2010
Surviving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jane Hicks Dillard and her husband Wilson of Lyman, SC and Sylvia Ann Creasy of Columbus, NC; a granddaughter, Seely Dillard of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister-in-law, Amogene Miller of Thomasville, NC; cousins, Rebecca Miller Gilliand and her husband Terry, Susan Miller Wall and her husband Greg, and Randall Parrish all of Thomasville, NC, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today (April 24) at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point with the Rev. Michael Hall officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. Bea will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until she is taken to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 8 Cramer St., Thomasville, NC 27360.

David R. Hollifield Sr.
LITTLE SWITZERLAND — David R. Hollifield Sr., 75, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his residence.
The funeral service was held  Sunday, April 21, at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Interment followed in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Rusty Larrimore
DENTON — Robert Russell “Rusty” Larrimore IV, 44, Friday, April 19, 2013, at Randolph Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is assisting the Larrimore family.

Charles Runyon
THOMASVILLE — Charles Reefice Runyon died Sunday, April 21, 2013.          
A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. today (April 24) at Thomasville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. 

Lois C. Snyder
LEXINGTON — Lois Cranford Snyder, 92,  died Friday, April 19, 2013.
The family held a private service. Davidson Funeral Home served the family.

Rosene Meredith Trexler 
THOMASVILLE-Rosene Meredith Trexler of Thomasville died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Hospice Home of High Point.
She was born July 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Darius E. and Blanche Jones Meredith.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Meredith Ann) Eanes of Thomasville; two sons, Daniel K. Trexler and Mark A. Trexler both of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mitchell of High Point, and Mrs. Evelyn Davis of Thomasville; two brothers, Darrell E. (Beatrice) Meredith, and Robert F. (Margaret) Meredith both of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Susanna Benton, Mrs. Chad (Jennifer) East, Joshua (Deylissa) Eanes, and Mrs. Todd (Julie) Messner; and seven great grandchildren, Zachery Eanes, Julia Eanes, Katie Benton, Olivia East, Lucy Rose East, Margaret Messner, and Mary Elizabeth Messner.
Rosene was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carl Trexler, Jr., infant daughter Laura Lou Trexler, and brothers D. C. Meredith, A. Barkley Meredith, and James H. Meredith.
Rosene was a 1943 graduate of Hasty High School and in 1944 graduated from Ashmore Business College. She began her work life in 1944 for the Civil Service Commission (War Department) in High Point in what was then the Southern Furniture Exposition Building. While World War II was in progress the War Department offices in High Point moved to St. Louis, Missouri and Rosene transferred there with some of her closest friends where she worked until after the war was over. She then worked for Heritage Furniture, Wachovia Bank, Textile Insurance Company, Hewlett-Parkard (Bivens-Caldwell), the High Point Chamber of Commerce, Dr. John Brockmann, and her last position before retiring Secretary of High Point Friends Meeting.
Rosene was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Thomasville, where she was a member of the Christian Fellowship Class, the Love Circle, and Wednesday at Pleasant Grove. She served as Church Historian, Chairperson of the Administrative Board, member of the Trustees, chaired several committees and served as a lay delegate to Annual Conference several times.
She was a devoted member of the PG Readers book club, which she said was really a support group that read books; the National Historic Preservation Society, the Tarheel Needlework Guild; and a charter member of the Western North Carolina Historical Society.
A celebration of life and remembrance will be held 11 a.m. today (April 24) at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Thomasville, conducted by the Rev. Karen Smith, the Rev. Joe Parker, and the Rev. Ardis Payne. The family will receive visitors at a reception following the service in the Kennedy Christian Life Center of the Church. Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church , 1393 Hasty School Road, Thomasville, NC 27360.

Holland Tussey
LEXINGTON — Charles Holland Tussey, 89,  died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Beulah United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (April 24)  at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes.

Larry White Sr. 
LEXINGTON — Larry Carl White Sr., 64, died  Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health- Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25,  at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today (April 24) at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Joseph Woodlief
DENTON — Joseph Woodlief, 52, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at his residence.
A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. today (April 24) at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Denton.  The family will receive friends from 1  to 2 p.m. today, prior to the service, at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
