ASHEBORO — Colon McNary “Mack” Beck, 69, died Sunday, Sept.1, 2013 in Randolph Health and Rehab Center.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. today (Sept 4) in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Robert “Bobby” Earl Bolling, Jr., 54, of Thomasville, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Thomasville Medical Center.
Born November 4, 1958 to the late Robert Earl Bolling, Sr. and Charlene Joyce Hockaday Bolling, Bobby was a resident of this area most of his life and had worked as a Sergeant for North Piedmont Correctional Facility for 10 years. He served in the U.S. National Guard for 15 years with the 113 Field Artillery and was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church. Bobby was a hard worker and devoted to his family. He will be fondly remembered as a man who went out of his way to help others. In addition to his parents, Bobby is predeceased by son, Jeremy Bolling, and sister, Linda Darlene Leonard.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Linda Dunbar Bolling of the home; four sons, Wesley Bolling and Matthew Bolling both of the home, Joshua Bolling and wife Alicia and Jason Bolling and fiancée Deisy both of Thomasville; sister, Patty Bolling Danson and husband Wayne of Archdale; brothers, Jack Bolling and wife Linda of Thomasville, Jay Bolling and wife Rhonda of Winston-Salem, and Charles Bolling of Maine; and grandchildren, Logan, Tabytha, Olivia and Noah.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Hughes Grove Baptist Church, Thomasville, with Dr. John Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale is serving the family.

CHICAGO, ILL. — Allean S. Eller, 96, formerly of Cleveland, OH, and Thomasville NC, widow of Charles M. Eller, passed away peacefully in Chicago, IL, on August 11, 2013, after a brief illness.
Beloved mother of Gayle P. Parr (deceased) and Marva (Mitchell) Watkins. Devoted grandmother of Teri and Michael (Michelle) Watkins. Proud great-grandmother of Andrew and Amy Condic, Annabelle Epstein, Abraham and Aaron Diaz, Christopher and Maya Watkins. Adoring great-great-grandmother of Jayden Hawkins. Cherished sister of John Sanders of Cleveland, OH. Sister-in-law of Devoid, Filene, Terrell, and Carlotta Eller, and Larue Starks, of New Rochelle, NY.
A visitation is planned for noon, September 7, at the Quadrangle Club, 1155 E. 57th St., Chicago, IL, followed by a memorial service.

LEXINGTON — Ruby Lee “Boots” Brinkle Gibson died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Davidson Funeral Home.
Thomas Walker Hanks, 69, died Tuesday Aug. 27, 2013, at Yadkin Valley Community Hospital.
The funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 31, at Thomasville Funeral Home chapel, followed by interment in Free Pilgrim Holiness Church Cemetery in Thomasville.

THOMASVILLE — David Ralph Hollifield Jr., 50, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 in Thomasville Medical Center.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m .today (Sept. 4) in J. C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. The interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Frieda Dare Campbell Wilson Long, 81, a resident of Thomasville, died Saturday morning, August 31, 2013 in the Thomasville Medical Center.
She was born August 1, 1932 in Watauga County, a daughter of George Donald Campbell and Minnie Dare Greer Campbell. Mrs. Long was a retired government employee with Watauga County, Boone, N.C. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Thomasville and was formerly a member of the chancel choir and worship committee.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Donald Daren Campbell.
Surviving are a son, David Wilson of Thomasville; a brother, Keith Campbell of Thomasville; granddaughter, Elizabeth Dare Wilson Donohue and husband Geoff; great-grandchildren, Ellison Donohue and Bradley Donohue; dear friend, Evelyn Buchanan of Thomasville and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

LEXINGTON — Mrs. Linda Lou Gilmore Matney, 63, a resident of Lee Smith Road, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at her residence.
She was born March 3, 1950 in Wadesboro, N.C., a daughter of William Mack Gilmore and Willie Juanita Phillips Gilmore. She was a former employee with Miller Desk, Inc. of High Point. Mrs. Matney was a member of Near Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Linda loved Jesus, her family and her dog Ginger and she will be dearly missed.
She was married to Aaron “Red” Matney, who died September 17, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jean Lambeth.

Surviving are a daughter, Kenda Somero and husband Michael of Trinity; a son, Tony Ray Gobble and wife Candace of Thomasville; sisters, Patricia Payne of Thomasville and Toni Sexton of Archdale; eleven grandchildren, Dustin and Jordan Gobble, Madison, Austin, Marissa, Grant, Grayson, Kathryn, Lillian, Caroline and Anthony Somero; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Raegan Gobble.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Near Calvary Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Matney will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her sister, Patricia Payne, 813 Oaklawn Drive, Thomasville.

Undine Miller Chesson
RALEIGH — Undine Miller Chesson, 59, of Raleigh died Monday at her home.
She was born in Asheville, NC, but grew up in Thomasville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Lola Wayne Miller, and Mrs. Undine Cline Miller. Undine was a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She retired after 32 years of service with Dorthea Dix Hospital as a Rehabilitation Supervisor in Adolescent Services.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gray Chesson in 1998.
Surviving are her daughter, Natalie Chesson Pope (Alex) of Raleigh; two brothers, Fletcher and Darrell Miller; beloved granddaughter, Kayla Celeste Pope; three special uncles, Charles, Bill, and Jim Cline; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh. The family will receive guests following the service at the church.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 12 noon at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville, NC.
