Grady Darr
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Grady Charles Darr, 90, of Old Greensboro Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Lexington Health Care Center.
He was born on July 22, 1922 in Davidson County, NC to Charles Andrew Darr and Bessie Clinard Darr.  He retired from Belk’s Department Store as manager of the men’s department.  He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII.  He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board and various other committees including Chairman of the Memorial Committee. He was a member of the Leon Bowers Sunday School Class, the Men’s Chorus and Joy Club and was past Sunday School Superintendent.  He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.  Grady was always remembered for serving God and others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Elizabeth Albright Darr on September 16, 2011, whom he married on August 3, 1947; brothers, Arthur, Roy, and Connie Darr; and grandson, Daniel Branson.
Surviving are three daughters, Janice Berrier and husband Dean, Patti Branson and husband Elliott, and Karen Livengood and husband Brad, all of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Cheryl Varner (Sean), Brad Berrier (Melissa), Ryan Berrier, Nathan Branson, Kyle Branson, Paul Hibbett, III (Pam), Jenny Hibbett, and Seth Hibbett; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Varner, Peyton Berrier, Parker Berrier, and Kallie Branson; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Fairview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Crady officiating.  Interment with military rites provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Darr will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.  The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Janice, 765 Whitehart School Road, Thomasville.  Memorials may be directed to Fairview United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2876 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville, NC 27360 or to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.

Hazel Leonard
LEXINGTON – Hazel Stamey Hoover Leonard, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Carolina House.
The funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today (Jan. 12).
