Obituary: Lucille Wilhite
Mrs. Lucille Moss Wilhite, 95, departed this life on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington, NC. She was born on June 30, 1918 in Newberry, SC, to the late Russell Moss and Rosanna Sanders Moss.
She moved to Thomasville, NC at an early age and attended the public school. She was a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church and the NAACP. She was united in marriage to Dewitt Wilhite, and to this marriage, one son – Henry Gordon Wilhite – was born.
Affectionately called “Little Man” by her family and close friends, Mrs. Wilhite was a devoted matriarch who loved her family and friends, and always greeted everyone with humor, leaving them with laughter, helping those in need whenever and wherever she could.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Emmanuel Wilhite, Alicia Wilhite Rutherford, Lightfoot Wilhite and David Wilhite all of CA; several nieces and nephews, among them who were her caregivers: Ricky (Pearl) Moss, Ophelia Moss and Sylvia Snuggs all of Thomasville and Kevin (Pamela) Gibson of High Point, NC.
