Obituary: ‘Dickie’ Sebastian
Mr. Arthur Roy “DICKIE” Sebastian, 88, a resident of Thomasville, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
He was born April 9, 1926 in Davidson County, a son of Reece Sebastian and Nina Glover Sebastian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. Dickie was owner and operator of Sebastian Mattress Company in Thomasville. He was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church and the Adult #1 Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Rickey Wayne Sebastian and a sister, Juanita Sebastian.
On February 9, 1952 he was married to Phyllis Wood.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Phyllis Wood Sebastian; daughters, Teresa Ward and husband Danny and Gayle Hulin and husband Tony, both of Thomasville; daughter-in-law, Kathy Gordon Sebastian Moore and husband Jamey of Thomasville; loving sisters, Pauline Hill and Edith Ballard, both of Thomasville; grandchildren, Lauren Jones and husband Barry, Kathryn Owenby and husband Edward, John Ward, Katelyn Sebastian, Matthew “Cord” Sebastian and wife Miranda, Brad Hulin and wife Love; great-grandchildren, Bailey Jones, Brooke Jones, Jackson “Cole” Sebastian, Gage Owenby, Gracee Owenby and Gray Owenby.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steve Chipps and Pastor David Davis officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Ward, Brad Hulin, Cord Sebastian, Keith Mabe, Danny Ballard and Randy Ballard.
