Obituary: Dessie Hatfield
Mrs. Dessie Trent Hatfield, 68, went to be with the Lord on February 24th, 2014 at Hospice of the Piedmont.
Mrs. Hatfield was born December 6th, 1945 in Iaegar, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Thurman Trent and Maxine (Riffe) Trent. She was a homemaker and an avid baker. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had been a resident of Randolph County for 46 years. She was a devoted servant of God and an active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Archdale.
On June 1st, 1964 she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Hatfield, who preceded her in death on October 1st, 2008. She also was preceded by her sister, Pennie Trent Larrick in 2005.
Surviving are her two daughters, Robin Austin of Thomasville and Nancy Skeen of Sophia; six grandchildren, Nicholas Austin and wife Michelle, Benjamin Austin, Elijah Austin, Troy Skeen, Leigh Skeen and Trent Skeen; two great grandchildren, Kylee Jade Austin and Jaydin Campbell; five sisters, Frankie York and husband Charles of Massillon, Ohio, Shirley Silvestro of Thomasville, Dottie S. Caldwell and husband Don of Garfield Heights, OH, Sandy Reynolds and husband John of Fall Mills, Va. and Tammy Bennett and husband Keith of Fall Mills, Va.; one brother, Danny Ray Trent and wife Jean of Lexington, several nieces and nephews; and a soon to arrive great grandchild, Levi Brice Austin.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. today (Feb. 26) at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Callahan officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
