LINWOOD —NSteve Carlton Greer, 65, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. today (Feb. 15) at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m.
THOMASVILLE —Mary Grubb Hill, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on February 11, 2014. She was cremated and will be buried in private ceremony at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mary was born August 18, 1932 in Denton, NC, a daughter of the late Ernest G. Grubb and Minnie Cutting Grubb. Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville. In 1955, she was employed by the City of Thomasville, where she served in many capacities, including Executive Secretary to six different City Managers, until she retired as City Clerk in 1999. During that time, Mary had also acquired the unofficial title of City Historian.
Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Robert (Bob) Hill of the home; son, Barry Michael Hill and wife Jeannie Gobble Hill, also of the home; grandson, Andrew Kenneth Hill of Greensboro; granddaughter, Emily Hill Buiwe and her husband Joey of Concord. Also surviving are sisters, Betty Mae Robinson of Orland, FL, Barbara Carrick and her husband Melvin of Southmont, Don Rea Keith and her husband Norman of Sanford; brothers, Max Grubb and his wife Mary of Littleton, Steve Grubb and his wife Sue of Farmer; sister-in-law, Maxine Grubb of Asheboro; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 2 until 4 p.m. at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville. No formal service is planned.

THOMASVILLE — Mary Jane McHone Loflin, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in the Hinkle Hospice Home
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the J.C. Green & Sons Chapel. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. A formal visitation will not be held.
LEXINGTON — Michael Lucas Myrick, 51, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at his home.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.
LEXINGTON — Allen Dale Sluder, 65, of Virgie Grubb Lane, Lexington passed away Tuesday at Forsyth Medical Center after an illness of ten months.
A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Mr. Sluder was born in Davidson County on March 7, 1948, to Alvin Deward Sluder and Clara Glasgow Sluder. He was owner and operator of Welcome Seamless Gutters and was a member of Mount Zion Wesleyan Church. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Grubb Sluder of the home; sons, Kevin Sluder (Angela) of Lexington and Allen Sluder (Gina) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Easton, Emerson, Dalton and Ashlyn Sluder, who he adored; brothers, Darrell Sluder, Sr. (Libby), Autry Sluder (Dot), Donnie Sluder (Gail) all of Thomasville; a sister. Patty Hulin (Tom) of Thomasville; and two special nieces, Savannah Grubb and Madison Grubb, both of Lexington.
