Dewey Black

THOMASVILLE — Dewey George Black, 73,  died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. A  formal visitation will not be held. J.C. Green & Sons is in charge of arrangements.


Margaret Deese

LEXINGTON — Margaret W. Deese, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.

A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8,  at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is serving the family.


Robert England

LEXINGTON — Robert Kelsey England, 67, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will see friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home.


Kenneth Elliott      

HIGH POINT — Kenneth Ray Elliott, 71, passed away on Feb.2, 2014. Ken was born on Nov.21, 1942, in Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Allene (Hughes) Elliott, and a brother Bobby Elliott (Sara) of Charlotte.

Ken enjoyed fishing, collecting Native American Artifacts, and anything to do with history. He was a former Boy Scout Leader at First United Methodist Church in High Point. He assisted many young men in obtaining their Eagle Scout Award. Ken received the distinguished service award of The Silver Beaver, for his many years of service to the Boys Scouts. He was a Civitan Citizen of the Year.

Ken was a graduate of Denton High School. He retired from Cedar Creek Hosiery Mill in High Point.

Ken is survived by his wife Kim Sparrow Elliott, and stepson Taylor Sparrow; daughter, Andrea Elliott Walker of Thomasville and husband Mark, and grandsons Brantley and Brayden Walker; brothers, Jimmy Elliott (Melanie) of Denton, James Elliott of Dallas, Wayne Elliott (Fran) of Jacksonville, Fla; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb.8, from 5-7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 380 S. Main St., Denton. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church.
