THOMASVILLE — Nell Adams Adams, 82, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice Home.
A graveside service was held Monday, June 2, at Cedar Springs Cemetery, Cedar Springs Road, Lexington, NC.
J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is serving the family.
LINWOOD — Augustus Elwood Curtis, Jr., 92, died Monday, June 2, 2014.
The funeral service will be held at 4 pm. Thursday, June 5, at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, Lexington.
THOMASVILLE — Virginia Dunlap James died peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2014 at Piedmont Crossing Retirement Center in Thomasville, NC.
She was born on October 9, 1922, in Wadesboro, NC, the daughter of Evelyn and Preston Dunlap. She married Alexander L. James on January 20th, 1945 in Tampa, FL. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2001.
She graduated from Wadesboro High School and attended Woman’s College (now UNCG) in Greensboro, NC. A resident of Thomasville since 1968, Mrs. James was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed her work there in a variety of volunteer positions. After her children were grown, she began a new career in the furniture industry, continuing to work into her 80s.
Mrs. James is survived by her daughter, Anne James Vandekatsey and husband Rene Vandekatsey of Naples, FL; her son, Alexander L. James, Jr and wife Elizabeth Wright James of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Matthew Morris James and William Marshall James.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville on Saturday June 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael E. Lamm officiating.

GREENSBORO — George Lee “Steve” Jordan, 54, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is assisting the family.
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Doris Mae Green Miller, 87 died May 29, 2014 at the Hospice Home of High Point after a brief illness.
She was born August 10, 1926, a daughter of the late John William and Mae Green and was the last survivor of seven siblings. Her husband of 49 years, Mont James Miller died in 1996.
In her earlier years, she was employed by Daisy Mill Hosiery, Inc. She was an accomplished homemaker who enjoyed decorating, sewing, cooking, craft projects, reading and working in her yard. For over 30 years she provided Monday night suppers for sons, Steve and Larry, and her other “son,” Jack Cox.
In her later years, her happiest times were spent at Oak Island raking in the yard and gathering on the porch with friends and neighbors.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Kennerly and wife Pattye and Larry Miller; a special niece, commonly known as “the daughter,” Pam Cable; granddaughter, Linsey Miller; two great-grandchildren and several additional nieces and nephews.
As per her request, a private memorial service will be held on the beach at Oak Island. Donations in her memory may be directed to the Hospice Home at High Point, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
