Webster's Dictionary defines a witness as "one that gives evidence or has personal knowledge of an event" and that is exactly what the production, "The Witness," at Greenwood Baptist Church is all about.

It is the story of Jesus Christ as told by His beloved disciple Peter.

Peter, portrayed by Brad Livengood, takes us on a journey through the birth, ministry, betrayal, death, resurrection, ascension and return of Christ. His storytelling is enhanced by a cast of 44 as they re-enact the life of Jesus through song and drama.

Joe Hedrick, minister of music at Greenwood, remembers singing this musical as a teenager.

"The Witness was originally written in the late 1970s and I sang it with my youth group in the early 80s. We've taken the original soundtrack and added several modern songs to make the production what it is today."

Greenwood's rendition of "The Witness" features Brian Eddinger in the role of Jesus.

Both Brian and Brad do an amazing job in the leading roles," said Hedrick, "and they are surrounded by a host of other tremendous performers."

"The Witness" will be performed at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24. Greenwood Baptist is located at 1010 Lexington Ave. in Thomasville. Hedrick invites the community to attend by saying,

"I firmly believe that anyone choosing to attend this production will be ministered to and uplifted as they witness the amazing love that Christ had for them," Hedrick added. "Our desire for 'The Witness' is to lead others to Christ and to bring glory and honor to our Blessed Redeemer."
