Liberty Drive goes wild about reading

Everyone dresses as their favorite character

As part of Spirit Week at Liberty Drive Elementary School, students and staff dressed up as a character or author of their favorite book. 

‘Wild About Reading Wednesday’ reflected the school’s effort to encourage reading. Megan Young’s fourth grade class also included pop culture and intellectual characters.  Sakori Poole dressed as Michael Jackson, Josaih Moore as Albert Einstein, Lyree Royall as the wicked witch from the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and Young as Cat in the Hat.

Cheyane Benge, a 10-year-old fifth grader, impersonated Pippi Longstocking, without the shenanigans of the fictional character.

Courtney Billups dressed as Boo Boo the Clown and fifth grade teacher Amii Skirletz as Harry Potter.

Craig Steszewski’s fifth grade class took on a variety of characters. Stephanie Healey dressed as Amelia Earhart; Qu'Lyah Murphy as Vidal Sasson; Katie Mason as Nancy Drew;, Cassidy Webster as Roderick from ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’; Danesha Riley as Wicked Witch;  Katlyn Davis as Juniper Jones; and Steszewski as Steve Irwin.

With magic wands, masks and hats, students in Kristen Kenney’s fourth grade embraced the theme of the day.  Nautica Grimes dressed as Fancy Nancy, Runiha Huntley  as Fancy Nancy's bestfriend,  Kennedy as Amelia Bedelia and Kaya Yarrington as Junie Jones.
