The Thomasville Police Department warns residents to beware of telephone solicitors asking for money on behalf of the police department.
The Thomasville Police Department is not asking for any type of donations.
“If you receive such a call, the police department recommends not giving out any personal information and to file a police report so an investigation can be initiated,” said  Detective Brad Saintsing.
According to a press release, a citizen reported receiving a telephone call from an unknown number. The unknown caller, who said she represented the Thomasville Police Department, asked for a donation and credit card information.
“If a fundraiser states they are representing the Thomasville Police Department, police ask you call them at  475-7755,” said Saintsing. “Try to provide as much information as possible, including the name of the person calling, the name and address of the organization, and any telephone numbers provided.”
