Who ya rooting for in the Super Bowl?
Walking through Wal-Mart, I spotted a couple teenagers strolling through the store in no hurry arrive at any particular destination. I started to walk away when one of them looked at me almost quizzically. “Do you work here?” she asked.
I smiled and politely said no, then proceeded to make small talk. I asked if either of them would be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday. Moments later, a man clad in Miami Dolphins apparel walked down the aisle and I approached him with the same question.
Here’s what they had to say:
I’m probably going to be watching the Super Bowl at my house, and I’m really excited to watch the game for the commercials. Last year, I like the Justin Bieber commercials. I think the Niners are going to win. I don’t always watch football, but it depends on what team. The Dallas Cowboys and the 49ers are my teams. It’s probably going to be a party at my house. We do this every year; the only thing different this year will probably be new people.

I will be watching the Super Bowl for the Super Bowl. I think it will be a pretty good game. I hope the 49ers win. I’m not really a Niners fan, but I’ll be pulling for them in the Super Bowl because I like their quarterback (Colin Kaepernick). I just like that he’s a rookie and he’s already in the Super Bowl. My team is awful, so it will be awhile before I see the (St. Louis) Rams in the Super Bowl. I might be watching it at (Ashley’s) house. Depends on whether or not I’m invited.

I’ll probably be watching, even though my team won’t be in it this year. It’s been a tough few seasons for the (Miami) Dolphins, but they’re trying to turn it around. (Rookie quarterback) Ryan Tannehill is not too bad. I’m going to go with the Ravens this year. The game usually goes to the team from the AFC. That’s usually the way it goes. I don’t know if their quarterback is that great, but I think they’re playing for Ray Lewis, who will retire at the end of the season. I used to have some friends, whose houses I’d go to for Super Bowl parties, but now it’s probably just me watching it at the house this year.
