Are those from Granny's?
It’s a frequently asked question in Thomasville that Granny's Donuts and Bakery owner Andy Sek is proud of.
“That makes me feel happy and to know that you have done something that people like,” said Sek. “It is nice that people appreciate your hard work.”
Granny's is located at 704 Randolph Street and has been in business since 2010. Sek opened the bakery after the plant at Automotive Motors of Thomasville closed. Unemployed for nearly a year, Sek decided to open a business of his own. Familiar with being a baker after working for another family business, Sek set up shop and has been thriving ever since. In addition to the Thomasville location, Granny's is now located in High Point, Kernersville and Oak Ridge.
They offer a variety of doughnuts from a basic glazed, to cream and fruit filled. Granny's additionally has doughnut holes and apple fritters.
Also available are brownies, muffins, cookies, espresso, cupcakes, cream horns, smoothies and ice cream. Sek hopes to expand the bakery side soon, adding bagels and croissants and danishes.
“I do a lot of the prep work and we have a kitchen at every location,” Sek said. “We make it fresh at every location, every day.”
Granny's Donuts is open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
