Equipment investment allows company growth
Wright Global Graphics Solutions, a Thomasville-based company, announced a $1.5 million investment in an eight-color Mark Andy P5 print station.
The purchase will allow the company to meet the needs of the food and beverage industry for label printing.
Company officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday.
"We partied, had a great open house on Friday with lots of people who were present while we were showing off our new equipment," said Greg Wright, president. "For us, it's an investment in the community. We have 153 people employed in Thomasville and continue to expand our employee base. It is a pleasure to be able to reinvest in this community."
The press, which streamlines the label printing and finishing process, also aids the production of shrink sleeve labeling, one of the fastest-growing branding techniques in the industry.
"Over the last several years, we have increased staffing and production capacity in our roll label division to better serve the food and beverage industry," said Don Wright, chairman and senior vice president of business development. "Our expanded capabilities will bring customers the ultimate in graphic flexibility to help them stand out in a crowded marketplace, coupled with affordability so they no longer have to compromise design excellence for cost considerations."
The practicality of the machine is significant, but company leaders are most excited by how the individuals came together to recognize Wright's commitment to the community.
"I think for me, it is always good to blend our employees and customers together," said Vickie Fishman, vice president of marketing. "It's very satisfying to bring in this new equipment, offer new products, new capabilities. This is an investment in both the company and the community. We have three locations here in Thomasville, so we're just really happy to see the support of each of the three plants."
Formerly known as Wright of Thomasville, the company is among the world leaders in packaging and marketing solutions. Bill and Tom Wright founded Wright of Thomasville in 1961 with the sole intent to provide exceptional printing for the home furnishing, carpet and rug industries. That remains a staple of their business, which also includes printing for sports and beverage industries. Today, the company is run by Bill's sons Greg, Don and Ron.
