Update: Man charged in stabbing
An early morning altercation ended with a Thomasville man facing a felony assault charge.
Thomasville Police Department responded to 214 Carolina Ave. at 2:28 a.m. Saturday morning to investigate a possible assault. Officers arrived and found a man suffering from lacerations and a stab wound in his back, according to a press release. Stephen McClure was transported to High Point Regional Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officers arrested 28-year-old Kareem Anderson at the scene and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
“Without getting into too many specifics about the argument, [the stabbing] really just resulted from a verbal altercation,” Detective Brad Saintsing said. “From my understanding, [McClure] had lacerations to his face and neck, and a stab wound to the back. We checked on him and the hospital said he was treated and released.”
Anderson was placed in the Davidson County Jail and issued a $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10, 2013.
In 2007, Anderson was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
