Area events exploding for the holiday
The High Point-Thomasville HiToms will hold a fireworks extravaganza after their game against the Forest City Owls at Finch Field on July 4. The game begins at 7 p.m. and the fireworks are scheduled to begin after the game. The $7 admission price includes the fireworks show.
The Lexington Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a Fourth of July celebration at 15 Paul Beck Rd. that includes amusement rides and live music. A fireworks extravaganza at Finch Park will conclude the evening.
Creekside Park in Archdale will hold its own July 4th Festival, a free event sponsored by the City of Archdale and the Randolph County Tourism Development Authority. Fireworks will begin at dark. Prior to the show, amusement parks open at 2 p.m. Food and craft vendors will be on site beginning at 3 p.m. The Part Time Party Band will perform at 7.
The Oak Hollow Festival Park will host the annual Uncle Sam Jam from 4:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. with outdoor music, food vendors, children’s crafts, entertainment and activities. For $10, a car load of individuals can enjoy outdoor music, food vendors, children’s crafts, entertainment and activities, as well as an incredible fireworks display. Parking will be available in the park and surrounding lots. As a family event, no alcohol is allowed. Among the performers, Josh Thompson, The Gal Friday Band and Alex Bailey will provide entertainment.
