Robbery suspect arrested in High Point
Thomasville Police Department arrested a High Point man Friday in connection to a pair of armed robberies.
Bryant Keith McCall, 40, of 843 Willow Place in High Point, was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm for allegedly holding up two Chair City convenience stores late last year, according to Capt. Mark Kattner, who said officers identified the suspect through video surveillance and photographs.
"Our criminal investigations department got some information from High Point Police Department about this guy and who he was," Kattner said. "Our detectives went over there and made contact with the guy to try and determine if it was him or not. They could tell by looking at him that he was our person."
Detectives began their investigation on Sept. 9 following an armed robbery at the Fairway One Stop on National Highway. A suspect entered the store with a handgun and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. On Oct. 23, video surveillance showed a black man, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 225 pounds, walk into the Kings Food Mart, 805-A Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and approach the cashier with a soft drink. After asking the clerk for a tobacco product, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money. No one was injured in either robbery. Kattner said he believes McCall was the only person involved in both robberies.
"They had been working on this case for a while," said Kattner. "They actually got a name on a possible suspect. They got information from another individual as to who this person was. We're very pleased to get this guy."
McCall was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center and issued a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 30.
