Authorities issue warning about fake officer calls
DAVIDSON COUNTY — Law enforcement officials in Davidson County are warning residents about con artists calling people fictitiously claiming they can invalidate warrants through payments.
This week, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office received numerous complaints about someone claiming to be a Lt. G. Wood with the warrants division. The con artist claims that the Sheriff’s Office has warrants for an individual’s arrest, which can be taken care of by obtaining a pre-paid credit card. The con artist then solicits money in relation to the credit card.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office interviewed at least six people who received calls. The Sheriff’s Office reports that it doesn’t call people to solicit any type of money or payments from anyone who may have warrants.
