Jackie Seabolt has been named community news editor of the Archdale-Trinity News and the Thomasville Times.

She fills the position held by Kathy Stuart, who is leaving to take on a new role at the High Point Enterprise.

Seabolt has 14 years experience as a reporter at a weekly newspaper in Davie County. Most recently, she served as copy editor at the Salisbury Post.

"I have a strong dedication and understanding of the workings of a newspaper and what it represents to our residents. I'm looking forward to telling the news and stories of these great communities with the staff of both papers.

That's welcome news to Stuart, who says community journalism has been her passion since she came to work for the NEWS in 1988.

She was named editor of the NEWS in 1998. In 2011, Stuart was named community news editor of the Times and the NEWS.

Stuart will not be leaving her field of community journalism. This week, she will assume the duties of Neighbors editor in the High Point Enterprise newsroom.

"Community journalism is grassroots reporting," said Stuart, "and it has been my joy. The journey has been wild at times, from fists drawn at a city council meeting to surprise on the faces of parents given a van for their handicapped son. It has been my privilege to serve the communities of Archdale-Trinity and Thomasville. I look forward to continued involvement through the High Point Enterprise."
