The Girls Fit Club, created three years ago and funded through Fuel up to Play  60, had one group of 30 girls for the first two years, but thanks to sponsorship from Thomasville Medical Center added another group of 26 girls.
This year, the Girls Fit Club at Thomasville Primary School is being offered to 26 girls two days a week and 30 girls two days a week. Some 56 second and third graders participate twice a week.
In the Girls Fit Club, children learn Zumbatomic (Zumba fitness program for kids), basic fitness concepts, jump rope tricks, and healthy eating habits to promote a healthy lifestyle. The girls learn emotional health topics such as anti-bullying, self confidence, and self esteem, as well as the steps to be successful, career planning, first impressions, and being a lady with great manners. The girls also work on leadership by taking these skills into the school and community to make Thomasville  a healthier place.
