Conn. men face drug charges
A March 20 traffic stop resulted in drug charges against two men.
According to a press release, members of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit stopped a 2012 Nissan Xterra on Interstate 85 South at mile marker 91 in Lexington for following too close. The rental vehicle displayed Connecticut registration and was being driven by Joe Lewis Surrey of 2 Fraser Place, Hartford, Conn.. During the traffic stop, officers smelled marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.
A half gram of cocaine and approximately 1.5 grams of marijuana was found in the vehicle. Surrey was cited and released for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The passenger, Albert Lee Surrey, was charged with two counts of felony possession of cocaine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Albert Surrey received a bond of $7,500. While being processed in the Davidson County Jail officers located an additional bag of cocaine in Albert Surrey’s sock.
Approximately two grams of cocaine was seized. Albert Surrey received an additional bond of $25,000 for felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. He has a court date of April 30.
