High Point man arrested after fleeing traffic stop
A High Point man is facing multiple charges after attempting to flee police following a traffic stop.
According to a Davidson County Sheriff's Office press release, detectives with the Vice Narcotics Unit on Monday conducted a traffic stop at National Highway and Interstate 85 Business as part of a drug investigation. During the stop, James Arthur Jones III, 21, of 624 E. State Ave. in High Point, fled the scene in a Ford Truck, nearly striking a detective. Jones eventually wrecked his truck on Kenreed Street and fled that scene on foot.
DSCO deputies and officers with Thomasville Police Department apprehended the suspect a short time later.
Deputies charged Jones with assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, fleeing to elude arrest and resisting an officer. Jones was placed in the Davidson County Jail and issued a $75,000 secured bond.
